After raising four children, in my senior "empty nest" years I am now spending my time painting and loving it. I prefer painting portraits in oil. Please contact me by email for more information.

About Me

My photo
Karen Pié
When I was a child I loved to draw and would copy the tests in the newspaper to see if I had talent. In high school I didn't think I had enough talent to pursue art but I would peer into the art studio to see what the real artists were doing. I did my first painting in 1969 while recuperating from mono. After high school I studied nursing but knew within a year that wouldn't work for me. So, the fall-back plan was to go clerical. I do not recall painting again for 15 years when in 1984 I painted the Woman from Mozambique, which I painted after my 2 boys were off to school and my 2 yr. old daughter sat at my feet. It would be another 17 years before I seriously painted again in 1999 when I tried again with the Cabin. I copied the painting from an art book to see what I could do. I began to paint sporadically after that until recently.
